1090 aSkipton Castle in North Yorkshire dates back to nd is one of the best preserved Norman strongholds existing in England today. The site is steeped in nine hundred years of history, a heavyweight as one contemplates the individual lives of thousands who have lived and died there over the centuries. My recent visit there was the inspiration for this article.
